This Soumak antique rug measures 4' 5" x 9' 2" and is woven in wool with a softened, timeworn surface. A column of octagonal medallions runs through a field of faded coral, cream, indigo, and sage, while small geometric motifs and layered borders add rhythm across the composition. The overall effect is graphic yet quiet, with medium distress that has mellowed the palette and blurred the details into an inviting patina. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the grounded character and tactile presence that define a well-aged Soumak. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
