This Soumak antique rug measures 3' 11" x 9' 5" and carries a richly weathered field of deep blue, cream, white, and faded coral. A long, column-like arrangement of geometric medallions runs through the centre, framed by narrow borders with stepped tribal motifs and rhythmic detail. The surface shows significant wear, with open areas, softened pattern definition, and frayed edges that give the piece its textured presence. Circa 1900 - 1915, it feels layered and grounded, with the kind of timeworn character that turns ornament into atmosphere. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
