This Soumak antique rug measures 5' 8" x 9' 1" and presents a layered field of stepped medallions, small geometric emblems, and a structured star border. The coral ground is softened by navy, ivory, faded teal, and muted gold, creating a warm surface with depth and contrast. Wear has mellowed the design, leaving areas of abrasion, tonal variation, and a distinctly timeworn hand. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the graphic clarity and lived-in texture that define a compelling Soumak. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
