This Soumak antique rug in wool measures 7' 7" x 10' 5" and carries a richly layered tribal composition softened by age. A rust field is set with navy, cream, ochre, and muted blue medallions, framed by busy borders and small geometric blossoms that keep the surface visually active from edge to edge. The palette has mellowed into an earthy, worn balance, with visible abrasion and fading that add depth rather than distraction. Circa 1850 - 1865, it feels tactile, collected, and quietly expressive.
