This Soumak antique rug measures 5' 8" x 8' 10" and carries a layered geometric presence in golden brown, muted blue, ivory, and charcoal. A strong central axis of stepped medallions and angular frames is held by Greek key-style borders and narrow guard bands, while the field shows softened contrast and scattered wear. The surface has a weathered, tactile finish that lets the motifs emerge and recede with subtle depth. Circa 1885 - 1905, it reflects a restrained palette and an expressive, time-worn decorative language that feels grounded and architectural.
