This Soumak antique rug measures 5' 6" x 8' 6" and presents a softened, highly layered field of geometric medallions, hooked forms, and closely framed borders. The palette is anchored in cream and white, then lifted by faded red, indigo blue, and black, creating a quiet contrast against the pronounced wear. Much of the surface has been gently eroded, which lends the pattern an atmospheric, almost washed-stone quality. Circa 1875 - 1890, it carries the graphic discipline and tactile irregularity that define a well-aged Soumak, with frayed edges and a richly muted finish.
