An intimate Sivas woven in wool, this field presents a tree of life composition in softened rose and neutral tones, punctuated by sage leaves and navy accents. Birds and small peacocks populate a detailed floral ground, set within a deep olive border of foliate cartouches. Subtle abrash and an even patina temper the palette while the piece shows low distress and a preserved tactile hand. Circa 1915 - 1930. This antique rug, sized 4' 2" x 5' 11", reads as a quietly refined object of craft, its restrained colourway and fine drawing rewarding close looking.
