An expansive Sivas in a muted neutral register, this antique rug reads as a faded garden of palmettes, vines and small-scale blooms that settle into a quietly ornate central field. The wool construction carries a soft, tactile hand and a gentle satiny sheen under light. Medium, even wear and layered abrash temper the original contrast, leaving darker brown outlines that define the border and spandrels against cream and beige grounds. At 9' 1" x 15' 1" the scale is generous, the composition refined by time into a luminous, painterly plane. Circa 1890 - 1905.
