A commanding Serapi in wool, this large antique rug presents a formal central medallion within a richly articulated scrolling floral field. The cream and neutral ground gives the motifs a luminous, tactile clarity while low distress preserves definition and body. Subtle abrash and gentle surface softening lend a composed patina that reads as age and use rather than damage. At 15' 0" x 21' 9", the scale is generous and the composition meticulously balanced, a study in measured ornament and woven restraint. Circa 1885 - 1915.
