This Serapi is a quietly grand antique rug, handwoven in wool with a bold central medallion set into a floral vine field. The 9' 6" x 11' 0" proportion reads formal yet relaxed; a warm red field graduates to gold and neutral surrounds, punctuated by dark navy accents in the medallion. Wear is modest, surface pile even and soft with restrained abrash that deepens the color story. The broad border frames a sequence of rosettes and foliate motifs, lending a measured, architectural presence. Circa 1890 - 1910. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
