A large Sarouk in wool, this antique rug reads with a deep indigo field populated by a dense floral lattice of palmettes, rosettes and scrolling vines in coral, gold and sage. A coral-red main border and narrow guards frame the composition, while low distress preserves crisp motif definition and a softly mellow surface. The scale is generous at 9' 2" x 17' 9", an uncommon proportion in modern production that emphasizes the pattern’s rhythmic repeats. Circa 1915 - 1930.
