This Seneh antique rug, 3' 10" x 6' 4", carries an allover field of small floral and geometric motifs softened into a painterly, timeworn surface. The neutral ground is layered with faded rose, rust, charcoal, and muted sage, while the narrow border quietly frames the composition without interrupting its dense rhythm. Woven in wool, it has a dry, tactile hand and medium distress that lends depth to the faded ornament. Circa 1895 - 1915, it reads as both restrained and richly worked, with age revealing the elegance of its pattern through softness rather than contrast.
