This Seneh antique rug measures 13' 0" x 19' 9" and carries a restrained, time-softened palette of neutral brown, cream, and white with traces of muted colour. Its all-over floral field is framed by a narrow border, while the design has mellowed into layered bands of ornament that read with quiet depth. Strong wear and fading have softened the contrasts, leaving a luminous, almost brushed surface. Circa 1880 - 1900, it reflects the refined yet understated character associated with Seneh weaving, with an atmosphere shaped as much by age as by pattern.
