This Seneh antique rug measures 3' 10" x 22' 5" and carries a long, restrained field framed by a lively floral border. The design reads as an allover lattice of small medallion-like blossoms, softened by time into a calm wash of aqua, cream, muted coral, and rust. Its low distress shows in the gently faded surface and relaxed tonal variation, which lend the piece a quiet, tactile depth. Circa 1900 - 1915, it offers the elongated elegance and layered ornament associated with Seneh weaving, while remaining visually light and airy throughout.
