This Ghiordes antique rug in wool measures 12' 6" x 13' 8" and carries the quiet authority of age through its worn, expressive surface. An allover field of geometric floral motifs is enclosed by a layered floral border, while the faded rose, terracotta, ivory, and muted brown tones have softened into a nuanced, sun-washed palette. Areas of heavier wear and broad fading create a richly lived-in character without obscuring the drawing. Circa 1890 - 1910, it offers a balanced composition with the warmth and restraint that define the Ghiordes tradition.
