An expansive Larestan in soft neutrals, woven in wool and worn to a whisper of patina. The 12' 2" x 26' 2" format reads as an all-over medallion lattice, palmettes and floral sprays emerging through a subdued cream and brown field. High distress has blurred edges and softened original contrasts, leaving a tactile surface marked by folds, abrash and repair history. This is an antique rug where age and use are integral to its presence, the motifs mellowed into a quiet, layered texture. Circa 1860 - 1880. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
