A large Larestan in a restrained neutral palette, woven in wool and softened by time. The field presents an allover floral arabesque of palmettes and vine work organized into repeating cartouches, framed by a multi-band floral border. Surface wear has mellowed the contrasts so motifs read as gentle outlines on a cream ground. The piece retains a tactile, lived-in presence and the hand of traditional weaving in its rhythmic patterning. Circa 1885 - 1925. This antique rug measures 14' 4" x 19' 10" and conveys quiet scale and layered patina.
