A long Larestan wool runner worked in a warm red field, this antique rug reads as refined and tactile. An allover scrolling vine animates the length with palmette and rosette medallions placed at regular intervals, while a darker neutral border frames the design. The wool pile retains soft definition and shows low wear with subtle abrash that gives the surface depth. The palette of red, neutral and brown remains harmonious after a century of use. Circa 1880 - 1895. Measurements: 3' 0" x 17' 6". The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
